About

UPDATE: Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s community consultation event – originally scheduled to take place in Bo’ness Town Hall on Saturday, March 3 – has now been re-organised for the same venue on Tuesday, March 20. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. for a 6.45 p.m. start.

We’re working on a new project to empower people in Bo’ness and Blackness – and help them plan the future of their area.

We’re organising two community events in Bo’ness Town Hall and are looking for local volunteers to take part. Fancy coming along?

We’ll provide food and refreshments and have free prize draws for participants.

Ideally, we’d like participants to take part in both events – the initial February discussion and the follow-up event, but will understand if you can only attend one session.

If you’d like to be involved – sign up using our online form.

We’ll then get in touch nearer the time.

The two meetings will help shape a community action plan for Bo’ness and Blackness for the next five years. We’ll also work with Bo’net – representing nearly 100 groups in the area – and the wider community to issue small grants to help take forward some of the ideas in the new plan.

We’ll also share your plan with the local council and other public bodies – making sure your voice is heard.

Working with us will be staff from the Electoral Reform Society. They’ll be using their own format – called “Act As If We Own The Place” – to get lively conversations underway.

So why not get involved?

We want a good representative sample of people from across Bo’ness and Blackness to take part. So, fill out the form and we’ll get back in touch with details.

Organising all these events is the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. We’re a charity working across the UK.

We’ve received funding to carry out this work from the Scottish Government’s Aspiring Communities Fund and the European Social Fund.

As well as the initiative in Bo’ness, similar projects are taking place in Ayrshire and Fife. Read more about it on our main website.

Here’s a video about a similar “Act As If … ” event in Dundee.
